Dr Robert Beckford is the director of the centre for black theology in the dept of theology at the University of Birmingham. He is the author of several books including, ‘Jesus is Dread: Black Theology and Black Culture in Britain (1998) and ‘God of the Rahtid: Redeeming Rage’ (2001). You may have seen him presenting a programme on Jamaican Independence on a Sunday night on BBC2 a few weeks ago!
