Paradise Lost

 

Science tells us that in the end in this world disorder always wins. So can we still make sense of God’s promise of a destiny beyond death? What could be the carrier of the continuity that guarantees that we are the same person on the other side of death? How can the new creation be free from the threat of decay? This session faces these issues in hope but with integrity.

John Polkinghorne KBE FRS is a fellow of the Royal Society and a fellow of Queens’ College, Cambridge. In 1979 he resigned his Physics professorship to train for the Anglican priesthood. He has chaired several science committees for the Church of England and was awarded the Templeton Prize for Science and Religion in 2002; in that year he also became the founding president of the International Society for Science and Religion.
