Come and hear about the “Homesense” design project, which brought the collaborative design methods of online communities to the physical infrastructures of the home. It explores how households across Europe have used open source hardware to build their own domestic technologies.
Georgina Voss manages the Homesense project, which investigates making and hacking practices around domestic technologies and energy behaviours. She is also a tutorial fellow in Ethics at the University of Sussex, and an honorary research associate with the Science and Technology Studies Department, UCL.
