Mona explores classical and contemporary Islamic thinking on God and faith, society and authority, pluralism and mission to ask how theology can be both a cohesive and a divisive force in society.
Mona Siddiqui is the Professor of Islamic Studies and Public Understanding and the Director of the Centre for the Study of Islam at the Department of Theology and Religious Studies at the University of Glasgow. One of the UK’s leading Muslim theologians, she is uniquely placed to address some of the most important theological questions of our times: whether theology itself is always destined to be a divisive force in society, or whether it can actually work to bring us toegther. Exploring classic and contemporary Islamic thinking on God and faith, society and authority, pluralism and mission, this promises to be a hugely significant talk.
