They will be reading from their books ‘If Nobody Speaks Of Remarkable Things’ and ‘The Last Girl’, and discussing the inspirations behind them; in particular, the influences their beliefs have or haven’t had on their writing, and the different ways those influences may have surfaced. Can a book be spiritual without using spiritual language? Does religious symbolism lose its meaning in a secular society? Is it really so hard to admit to being ‘a christian writer’?
Jon McGregor and Stephan Collishaw are both writers who have had their first novels published in the last year.
