Xylaroo are a sister duo act with a refreshing take on folk music.
Having travelled the world in their youth, starting in Papua New Guinea and ending in London via Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Azerbaijan, Switzerland and Kent, it is fair to say they have seen a lot. These experiences are vocalised in beautiful harmonies that drapse over familiarly folk-y vibes but in a way we haven’t heard before.
The girls have been championed by Steve Lamacq at BBC Radio 6 with playlists, sessions and spot plays from Steve and Lauren Laverne and spot plays from BBC Radio 2, Radio X, Amazing Radio as well as a performance on BBC Radio 4 on Loose Ends and another Dermot O’Leary on Radio 2. Their latest single has been playlisted twice by Virgin Radio and Amazing Radio with an interview and session with Edith Bowman on Virgin Radio.
They have impressed in the flesh as well with tours supporting Matt Berry & Maypoles and Will Varley around the UK and an 18 date tour around Europe with Mika with venues ranging from 4,000 to 20,000 cap. Returning to the UK, they headlined Latitude BBC Introducing stage, played main stage Camp Bestival, Bestival and had more dates later in the year with Matt Berry around the UK including a special London show at Koko.
