Sweetcornbread have deep and diverse musical roots that go back over 20 years of playing together, with a core writing duo who have been close friends from birth.
They blend vocal harmonies over funk, folk, bluegrass, reggae, punk, rock and every style in between in their high-energy shows. The band swap instrument and lead-vocal duties whilst they blitz through the breaks and tempo changes of their varied acoustic and electric tracks.
With references to the likes of The Band, The Clash and Gomez, their songs can be upbeat, heartfelt, at times politically charged, often reminding us of what’s important in life. Officially formed in Hertfordshire in 2008 out of a collective of musicians and long-term friends living and writing together, Sweetcornbread have proved to enthusiastic festival crowds they have the beats to make you move and poetry to make you listen. They have played headlining slots at independent festivals and events, performed live on BBC introducing, and had their track ‘Fajita’ played on 6music’s mixtape. They look forward to performing and releasing their newly recorded material later in 2019.
