Electropunk juggernaut ‘STRAIGHT GIRL’ is the alias of Leeds-based composer and producer Remy Enceladus (non-binary | they/them pronouns).
Heralded for their ‘magnetic and exhilarating’ live performances, the self-branded ‘connoisseur of sad-dance’ has been bulldozing their way through the UK’s alternative, electronic, and progressive scenes since 2019.
Name dropped by Dream Wife in VICE’s ‘Ones To Watch 2023’ and declared ‘zesty’ from the likes of Tom Robinson’s 6 Music Mixtape, STRAIGHT GIRL has stamped their signature ‘grave rave’ sound across the country and beyond, from support slots with Kero Kero Bonito, Dream Wife, Billy Nomates, and Lynks, to securing merciless festival stage performances at the likes of Deershed, ArcTanGent, Live At Leeds, Sound City, and more.
Their first 7” single ‘Limón’, released in November 2020 via Come Play With Me, achieved widespread critical success and landed in the Guardian Top 5 Tracks of the Week alongside Rina Sawayama and Megan Thee Stallion.
An alchemist of remorseless beats and jarring basslines, STRAIGHT GIRL will be taking no prisoners on their mission to prove themselves as the ‘Overlord of Electropunk’.
