Refugees at Home connects people with a spare room to refugees and people seeking asylum in need of somewhere to stay. We were set up in 2016 in response to the war in Syria. Since then, we have grown to become the UK’s largest independent hosting charity, finding rooms for more than 5,000 guests from 75 different countries thanks to our network of generous hosts across the UK.
We don’t think people who come to the UK for sanctuary should end up on the streets. Our vision is for every refugee and every person seeking asylum to have a safe place to stay. We recruit and support volunteer hosts who are willing to offer a temporary home and a helping hand. We carefully match each guest and host, following assessment. We prepare them for hosting and we offer support and guidance to hosts and guests throughout the placement.
We’re joining the Greenbelt family for the first time in 2024, and will be joined by an exciting array of individuals and organisations who will be coming together through food at our venue, The Table to share food and stories of welcome.
