Joel Bergner is a nomadic artist, educator and advocate for social action who specialises in creating giant murals with youth and communities around the world, from marginalised neighbourhoods in his native US to the shantytowns of Kenya; from the favelas of Brazil to a Syrian refugee camp and beyond.
He always works closely with local residents and organisations to give opportunities for those who do not have a voice in society to explore issues that are important to them, learn valuable skills and uplift their environment through public art.
Joel’s work features his signature blend of bright colours, intense imagery and themes that explore a variety of social and cultural issues. He and his projects have been published in several books and have been covered by global media outlets, including Al Jazeera, National Public Radio in the US, Reuters and AFP.
