British-born international guitarist and composer Jason Carter has toured the world with his inimitable fusion of world music and classical styles. He has visited over 90 countries as diverse as the Gulf States, North Korea, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Uzbekistan, and has received awards for his efforts in building international cultural insight through music – often supported by UNESCO, the United Nations and the British Government.
Carter’s extensive discography of 17 albums – with labels including Sony, EMI and ASV – and collaborations with a cornucopia of prominent musicians from across Asia, America and Europe mark him out as a prolific artist of exceptional originality. Jason’s current live show features solo guitar and harp guitar compositions, some using live looping techniques, exploiting the possibilities of layering parts and using pre-recorded loops and samples.
Carter’s concerts are at once deeply fascinating, intimate and profoundly moving occasions in which he not only shares his creative musical gift but also a gentle and genuine humanity. He has worked with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, Novosibirsk Philharmonic Orchestra, New Irish Orchestra, and countless other musicians. His work has appeared on compilations with artists as diverse as Anoushka Shankar, Barbara Streisand, Larry Coryell, Hariprasad Chaurasia and Ozzy Ozbourne.
Jason’s new project, Like You’ve Never Heard, is set for release in the USA in 2014, followed by an intensive touring schedule. He has also just released his Audio Book, Making In-Roads – featuring stories from his concerts and experiences around the world.
