Revive is a Christian community based in inner-city Leeds, where – among other things – they make music and help to run an arts centre.
They have made several appearances at Greenbelt over the years, including mainstage, morning worship and communion (the one with the big white tree). The Hymn of the Universe is a new collection of songs loosely inspired by Teilhard de Chardin’s classic mystic text about the relationship between God, nature and science. Like so many of the psalms, and unlike much contemporary church music, the songs explore spiritual themes without leaving the woods, fields and mountains behind. Melding jazz, rock, folk and close harmony vocals to create a sonic experience of beauty, The Hymn of the Universe is an attempt to communicate the power of creation through the creation of music.
