Good Habits

Good Habits

Kate Griffin

Good Habits are one of the most exciting and fast-rising indie-folk acts to emerge from the UK. Their joyous genre-fusing sound has received international critical acclaim, awards, and opportunities to perform at major festivals such as Glastonbury, WOMAD, and Cambridge Folk Festival in just four years.

Composed of Bonnie Schwarz (cello + vocals) and Pete Shaw (accordion + synths + perc), the pair gained a reputation for vivid storytelling and their unique blend of upbeat indie-folk. In 2024, the duo expanded into a trio, joined by drummer Jen Walinetski (Miles Kane), taking their sound to a whole new level with the energy of a full band. This exciting evolution has already seen them booked for festivals like Kendal Calling and Green Man Festival, as their infectious live performances continue to win fans everywhere they go.

Good Habits’ journey began in Manchester, but their story truly took off in 2020 when a planned three-month tour of New Zealand turned into a nearly two-year stay due to the pandemic. During their time ‘happily stranded,’ they received national press coverage, performed across the country, and became favourites at Cuba Dupa, the world’s largest festival of 2021.

Returning to the UK in 2021, the band quickly built momentum, playing festivals like Glastonbury and WOMAD and gaining attention from BBC Radio, The Morning Star, and Songlines. Their 2024 album, Quarter-Life, charted in the Top 40 Official Folk Charts and earned widespread critical acclaim.

Now, with their new trio lineup, Good Habits bring even more energy and depth to their genre-bending live performances, making them one of the most exciting acts to watch in the indie-folk scene.
