Dr Christopher Meredith is Senior Lecturer in Bible and Critical Theory at the University of Winchester.
His published work looks at literary dimensions of biblical texts and their impact on western culture. His first book was on the Song of Songs. He is currently writing a guidebook on the Bible’s interaction with philosophies of space and place and a monograph on the Bible’s changing role in modern Western culture. He sits on the steering committee for the Reading Theory and the Bible seminar of the Society of Biblical Literature (USA) and co-chairs the Biblical World and its Reception section for the European Association of Biblical Studies. Christopher is Co-director of the ‘Well Versed…’ Project, which looks at trends in Biblical Literacy. He leads Winchester’s undergraduate degree Programmes in Theology, Philosophy, Religion and Ethics.
