Dr Chris Meredith is Lecturer in Biblical Interpretation for the University of Winchester. He speaks, teaches and publishes on fresh ways of engaging with biblical texts and of understanding their influence on culture.
Amongst his recent publications are Journeys on the Songscape, a book-length literary treatment of the Song of Songs, and various articles on the Bible’s place in popular culture—from zombie literature to stand-up comedy.
Chris is currently working on a book about the cultural rejection of the Bible in the West for Bloomsbury called Biblia Obscura, and on a new treatment of the Sodom myth, which explores the way a language of space and place has influenced our thinking about sex.
Chris is reviews editor of the Journal of Bible and Critical Theory and is Programme Director for Winchester University’s undergraduate degrees in Philosophy, Theology, Religion, and Ethics. Chris lives in Winchester with his boyfriend, Simon.
