Christopher Southgate trained as a research biochemist, and has since been a house-husband, a bookseller, a university and hospital chaplain, and a teacher of theology.
He is the author of seven poetry collections, including a verse biography of T.S. Eliot, A Love and its Sounding (Salzburg 1997). Chris’s special interests include the relation between scientific knowledge and seeing as a poet. This also feeds his teaching on the science-religion debate, and ecotheology. He is Associate Professor of Theology at the University of Exeter and the author of The Groaning of Creation (WJK 2008) and a number of other academic books.
