Burning Codes is a collective but essentially the solo project of Irish, Belfast-born singer and songwriter Paul Archer.
A much-respected artist, Paul sang vocals on five tracks on Snow Patrol’s “Eyes Open” album and has guested with the band live including V Festival 2012.
The Burning Codes project has toured alongside Elbow, Lisa Hannigan, Duke Special, Foy Vance and James Walsh (Starsailor). And Burning Codes collaborators have included members of Snow Patrol, Athlete and Tired Pony to name a few.
Published by Polar Patrol, “The Road”, is the second single taken from the Burning Codes’ fifth album release – “Hope Is Our Lightning” – out in Summer 2015.
Archer says “The single is born from wanting to really try to convey a tangible sense of struggle, of durability and fluidity and of the ever-evolving, changing and profound nature of our existence.”
Snow Patrol’s Jonny Quinn plays drums and appears as a special guest on this track which drives a hard Telecaster punch. The Road is a welcome ‘hat’s off’ to the sounds that filled the alternative clubs in the post-punk years and delivers the much-needed edge that today’s chart-filled world lacks.
Greenbelt awaits.
