Edification and upliftment is at the heart of what Adesuwa Bullen does. The singer-songwriter from London has been entertaining crowds for years, in Europe and beyond, alongside her producer and husband Hugh Bullen.
The duo have a wealth of experience, and Hugh has shared the stage with music greats such as Aretha Franklin, Eric Clapton, and Jimi Hendrix to name a few. They are a forced to be reckoned with and are now back to woo the world with their second album Great Miracles.
The album (released back in December 2009) is an amalgam of soul-tingling positivity, and contains something for everyone. It has propelled Adesuwa, Hugh and their band into being very much in demand, and the album has sold out in every show they have performed with audiences craving for more.
Adesuwa started singing after she finished college and uplifting people through music is her passion.
“I have always loved music, and I believe that music should paint a picture and impart something positive to the audience,” says the woman herself.
The musical journey has not been an easy one for Adesuwa. In her college days, she was often guarded and shy about her singer-songwriter capabilities, but the gift would not stay hidden and eventually burst forth, prompting her to perform at a range of open mic sessions and shows. It was whilst she was working on the circuit, that she met Hugh, and the impact was instant. It was a meeting of musical minds, and the results were displayed on her first album, Free Your Spirit, released in 1999.
The single of the same title so successful that it was nominated for an award by Macintosh Computers. In addition to singing, song-writing and producing, Adesuwa and Hugh run their own record label Innspirals Records and run a recording studio, 7 Worlds Music, based in North London. Preparations have already begun for the 3rd album, which Adesuwa is currently writing. Judging by the smooth, melodic grooves on Great Miracles, things can only get better.
