Hugh Warwick once argued that the hedgehog was the most important creature on the planet but he was beset by others who claimed that their own particular species were just as significant. So began a journey around the animal obsessives of Britain which grew into his latest book, The Beauty in the Beast. A light-hearted love story about nature.
Hugh Warwick is an ecologist and writer whose passion for hedgehogs was documented in A Prickly Affair. He has helped stop the cull of hedgehogs in the Outer Hebrides; supported wildlife hospitals; and radio-tracked hedgehogs through the fields of Devon and North Ayrshire.
