Greg Garrett is one of America’s most-respected commentators on religion and culture, the author of over twenty books, and the 2013 Centennial Professor at Baylor University in Texas.
While his novels, memoirs, and contemporary retellings of scripture for The Voice translation have been acclaimed, he is best known as a writer and speaker on the sacred value of stories, both those from religious traditions and from the culture. He has written on Harry Potter, Hollywood film, U2, superhero narratives, narratives of grief and suffering, and other topics related to religion, culture, and politics.
His Entertaining Judgment: The Afterlife in Literature and Culture (Oxford University Press, 2016) received lead reviews from publications ranging from The New Statesman to Christianity Today.
Living with the Living Dead: The Wisdom of the Zombie Apocalypse is a lead trade title from Oxford in 2017, and explores how and why these stories have helped people make meaning of major human questions, and how Christian teaching can be brought to bear on these stories.
Dr. Garrett has lectured at Kings College London, Gladstone’s Library in Wales, the American Library in Paris, the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., and many other churches, universities, conferences, and festivals across the US and Europe.
