Ashley Green-Thompson

Based in Johannesburg and a native of South Africa, Ashley has over 30 years’ experience of non-profit work that is rooted in a commitment to social justice activism. He has worked across sectors in Southern Africa, from youth organisations resisting apartheid through to the nascent electoral processes of 1994. During his time with formal church institutions he brought a layperson’s perspective to faith and human rights, and his time as a consultant allowed him the opportunity to influence policy and practice of a range of organisations. He has contributed to developing the field of philanthropy in Africa, and as Director of ACT Ubumbano is exploring what solidarity and decolonised practice looks like beyond the rhetoric. Ashley has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in African Politics and Law.
