He’s the reason Bono once came back to Greenbelt festival, disguised as a steward. He was the inspiration behind one of the festival’s iconic gigs – Cabaret Nicaragua. He changed the hearts and minds of Greenbelters and people of good conscience the world over. He was Nobel Peace Prize nominee Gustavo Parajón. ¡Presente! It is fitting at our 50th anniversary that we celebrate and learn again from the life and witness of one of the festival’s most seminal speakers. With one of his mentees, Roberto Martinez – who Gustavo empowered to continue the work of public health, peace-making and love he embodied – and other key Greenbelt figures who have been shaped by Gustavo over the 36 years since he first appeared at the festival.
