The Rose Castle Foundation exists to equip generations of reconcilers by facilitating encounters between deep divides.
We are committed to everyone’s potential to reconcile; to be able to tell their own story, the story of the other, and join in the invitation to a new shared story with those with whom they are in conflict. Reconciliation here is not about seeking common ground, but about building understanding — the endeavour of learning to disagree well. At the heart of our approach is Scriptural Reasoning- a fresh approach to inter-faith dialogue which brings together people of different faiths to read and reflect on their scriptures. SR is unique because instead of seeking compromise or commonality between faiths, in SR people may seek to understand their differences better. In this way, SR creates a space for hospitable dialogue amongst people who are deeply committed to their respective religious traditions and at the same time seek to ‘disagree well’. SR is now practised in a range of contexts in communities across the world, including in places affected by religion-related tensions and conflict.
This event is produced in partnership with Coexist House.
