A Super Happy Story (About Feeling Super Sad)
presented by
Silent Uproar
A hilarious cabaret musical about depression that explains, sings and throws glitter about how it’s OK not to be OK.
Sally’s a happy person. She doesn’t let little things get her down and almost never cries. But she’s got an illness. It makes her feel like she isn’t the person she wants to be but she doesn’t want anyone to know about it.
Written by Olivier award winner Jon Brittain (Rotterdam and Margaret Thatcher Queen of Soho) with music by Matthew Floyd Jones (Frisky & Mannish).
It’s a joyful, buoyant, gleeful, slightly silly, sugar coated, unrelenting and completely super happy show! Except for the bits about depression.

Silent Uproar is a Hull-based theatre company with a simple mission statement: Silent Uproar creates playful and provocative new work by telling the stories that will make the world a little less shit. We are inspired by films, comic books, and video games.
The company formed in 2014 and has gone on to become a ‘Supported Company’ of Hull Truck Theatre and a New Diorama Theatre ‘Emerging Company 2016-2017’. Silent Uproar has also received support and built relationships with organisations locally, nationally, and internationally such as: Hull City Council, Hull City of Culture 2017, Hull Trains, Hull NHS CCG, mindUK, British Council as well as theatres and festivals in New York, Australia and Europe. All undertaken with a pledge to find alternative ways to engage new audiences by bringing some of the best new writers and artists from across the UK to make work in Hull with international appeal. Each of Silent Uproar’s productions has transferred nationally from Hull.
The company does not work in a set style, instead continually experimenting with different forms of storytelling by mixing new writing with devising. Silent Uproar’s work is inspired by pop culture, especially cinema, television, comic books, stand-up comedy, and video games (gaming culture in general). The company creates work as a continually changing ensemble working with new writers, musicians, technicians, and artists to create bold and innovative new work.
