Karen Rooms is the Canon Missioner at Leicester Cathedral with responsibility for developing the cathedral’s social outreach, and Transition Priest in the Holy Spirit Parish Leicester.
Karen was the founding Co-Chair of Nottingham Citizens broad based alliance which was built following the 2010 Sanctuary Pledge General Election Campaign.
This includes 42 member institutions across faiths, labour and education delivering justice and change in Nottingham.
This ‘common good’ includes BAME police recruitment; new protocols for homeless 16 &17-year-olds; two Hate Crime posts with the City Council and Police and the County Council implementing the Living Wage Foundation’s Living Wage, together with deep and creative relationships between diverse communities in the city.
As a parish priest, she works to build partnerships to act together her local community, particularly working alongside asylum seekers and refugees.
Her background is in Sales and Marketing, Logistics Management, with seven years as a missional partner in East Africa, a Citizens Advice Advisor.
