Greenbelt 2008 brings you the new improved Humanic!! Not only is the 14-17s programme moving to a larger, more flexible venue — complete with its own chill-zone open until the early hours — but we are putting together an amazing variety of concerts, workshops, debates, talks, performances and worship. There'll even be opportunity to contribute to the Humanic movie, being filmed and put together over the weekend.

We can't tell you any more yet – you might not be able to contain your excitement until August! But more details of the Humanic lineup will be appearing here soon... Watch this space.

Create a book in 24 hours

The Between the Lines team will be creating a book onsite again this year. Using six specific images of trees as its inspirational image (Click here to see the six images of the trees to use as inspiration for this year\'s book), all work should be submitted by email to the BTTL team in advance of the festival or onsite at the BTTL venue by 10am on the Saturday.

Bill Drummond

In 1987, Bill Drummond\'s Justified Ancients of Mumu project caused a great deal of outrage and legal wrangling due to the inclusion of snippets from Margaret Thatcher\'s speeches, an Abba single and various BBC broadcasts. In 1992, his band the KLF exited the music business by machine-gunning the Brits audience with blanks. Two years later he burned one million pounds of the money he had made for an art project. He now makes soup across the UK and encourages people to prepare to die by organising their own funerals.

Communion Service

Sunday morning communion is always a event for the whole Greenbelt family: a bit like Christmas dinner, it\'s the one time we all come together to celebrate our unity and diversity.

For 2005, Gary Crosby has launched a brand new project, a new band and new album! The project, Motorcity Roots, embraces the legacy of the Motown label and its enormous contribution to the world of great music.

If the words 'protest singer' conjure up worthy-but-dull diatribes listened to in reverential silence by men in chunky sweaters, take a look at Michael Franti and Spearhead and think again. Franti's music faces the demons of racism, militarism and globalization head on, whilst a Spearhead gig offers 'part booty-shaking funk jam session, part soul deliverance, part cosmic transformation, and part social activism assembly, all rolled into one sweaty, sexy, raucous good time'.

Andrew Motion

A prolific writer, Andrew motion was appointed as Poet Laureate in May 1999 and has received a host of awards, including the Whitbread Prize in 1994. He is Professor of Creative Writing at Royal Holloway, University of London and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. In The Blood A Memoir of my Childhood (Faber & Faber) is published in Sept06.

City of clay

This year the clay is back after a sabbatical. And all Greenbelters will be invited to build up a city of clay over the weekend. After the great successes of \'The Exodus\', \'The Ark\' and \'The Multitude\', this year the community arts project that everyone will want to be involved in is that little bit more architectural.

Comtemplative evening prayer and worship led by Brother Paolo of Taize.

Union Dance exists to explore and express an identity through dance which reflects the growing cultural fusion of contemporary society.

Nick Park

Nick is going to judge the Videoschool competition of video shorts made by young people over the weekend lookig at aid effectiveness and he will be interviewed by children before a showing of The Curse of the Were-Rabbit on the big screen!
