Having trained both in Fine Art and Illustration, since the late 1980’s Matt has worked as a commercial artist in a variety of guises – Travel Illustrator; Book and Magazine illustration; Court Room Artist for TV News (covering such cases as the Scott Inquiry into the Sale of Arms to Iraq, the Hillsborough Inquiry, the Dr. Shipman and Abu Hamza trials and many more high profile cases); live caricaturist at events all over the world; visualiser for Market Research Companies and a multitude of blue-chip organisations.
His speciality appears to be the ability to draw quickly, under pressure – usually with people talking over his shoulder.
In between time, he has also taught life-drawing and Art & Design up to A’ level.
More recently he has been exploring live drawing during worship, occasionally working directly onto a tablet and having the illustrations projected. He has lectured on the subject and is fascinated by the potency of live artwork and how it can enhance/work with other presentations.
He lives in Winchester with his wife (where she is Curate at the Cathedral) and their three young children
